PRCA Steer Wrestler Billy Bugenig shares his story

April 2012

Dear Justin Cowboy Crisis Board,
My wife and I wanted to write and express our deep appreciation and gratitude for the help that you have provided our family.  I underwent surgery this last November on my left shoulder, as I had torn the labrum and was unable to compete.  I found myself in a difficult position that I had never faced in my rodeo career.  With the help of the Justin Cowboy Crisis Fund (JCCF) I was able to recover, rehab, and get back in the arena competing within 4 months’ time.  The assistance helped me focus on a full recovery.
I now realize how important the JCCF is to rodeo and its competitors.  It makes possible for cowboys to achieve their desired goals and become true professionals in this dangerous sport.  Since my injury I have talked with a number of cowboys about (JCCF) and the important role it plays in the PRCA.
Please let me know what I can do to help.  I am willing to contribute my time and talents to help continue this great cause for rodeo.

Sincerely,
Nate and Meggan Baldwin

Dear Cindy and the JCCF,

I would like to send a huge thank you for the assistance I received during my knee surgery and recovery. Without the help of the JCCF I would hate to think of the position I would be in today. Their assistance allowed me to take the necessary steps to completely rehabilitate my knee without the stress of having to go back to work too soon and risk re-injury.

Your assistance was truly appreciated and I will do whatever I can in the future to support Justin and the JCCF! Thank you very much!

Dear JCCF,

Thank you so much for helping my family and me out while I was hurt. We are so grateful for the monthly assistance. Without your help we would have had financial worries.

As cowboys, we are so lucky to have such an incredible support group. Thank you guys once again for giving us a hand!

Sincerely,

Dear JCCF,

I am writing to thank you all for your extreme generosity in granting me financial help over the next few months while I am injured. Associations like you guys help define the term “good people” and deserve to be recognized more often. I hope to one day be in a position where I can help give back to the JCCF.

Thanks again,

Dear JCCF Team,

My name is Kevin Grudin and the JCCF team saved me in a very big way. Back in 2007 I got injured. I can not even begin to describe hop much help the JCCF was, not just financially but mentally as well. The help, fact action and generosity provided by the JCCF team took such a heavy weight off my shoulders and allowed me the opportunity to focus and really work hard at getting healthy.

This last spring I was still in recovery but required a second surgery. I called up Cindy and the JCCF team to see if once again I cold get some assistance for the second time you showed support and aid. Once again, it was the help that I needed to be able and focus my energy on healing. I can’t tell you how much it meant to me.

Now after almost two years and two surgeries I am healthier then ever before and on my way back to Rodeo. It may have been a long road to get here but it was filled with good people, with big hearts. Thank you..

Sincerely,
Kevin Grudin

Dear JCCF:

There are no words to express the gratitude that my family and I felt in receiving the contribution to our household last year. As a horse trainer and gold card member of PRCA, I have a very physically demanding career, so when I lost my thumb in a team roping accident, and had shoulder surgery last year, it created some challenges financially and emotionally.

I am happy to report; however, that last fall I was asked to participant in the Lazy E’s World’s Greatest Roper event, which was my first competition after being injured last May. I won third in that event for $10,000. That win got me stared back in the rodeo arena. This year, I have a barn full of horses in training, and was fortunate to win third in the short go and third in the average at the recently completed Cheyenne Frontier Days Steer Roping. That win catapulted me in the standings, so I am actively seeking another opportunity to make the NFSR. Once again, thanks for the blessing I received last year and I will continue to support the fund whether it is passing along the benefits to potential financial contributors, or whether it is my own small contribution to the cause.

Sincerely,
Doug Clark

Dear Justin Cowboy Crisis Fund,

My name is Tyler L. Johnston. I received financial support from your organization and would like to thank you. The support helped me get through a slow healing injury not to mention the coldest winter Montana has had in thirty years. It’s nice to know that there are still people out there that support the cowboy way of life. The hand up was greatly appreciated. If I can ever be of any help let me know.

Thanks Again,
Tyler L. Johnson
